Natural Indigo Dying has been practiced in India for over 3000 years and the art has been well preserved by some artisan families in Northern and Western India who passed it down to generations. The scarves are completely hand made starting from the creation of natural indigo baths .These are created painstakingly by the artisans and it takes over a month to create one bath initially ! Block prints are created on wooden blocks by different artisans using hand tools and the blocks are then used with special mud to create the resistance dye effect once scarves are dipped in Indigo. The scarves are dyed and dipped multiple times depending on the design. Its a lot of manual work that creates these pieces of art !

    Jaipur Flower

    0 out of 5

The flower design on this handmade scarf has been created by artisans from Rajasthan by the block printing process. Blocks in wood are first created for the design by craftsmen (its a tedious process) and then those blocks are used to paste mud on the scarves. The scarf , while dyeing, picks up natural indigo only at places where mud print is not there and that is how the design is created. The fabric is 100% cotton and home washable. As an accompanying gift, the scarf will come with a free cool handmade  blue color carry pouch.
